Purpose_x000D_
To test the readiness of the health system in Tanzania to manage imported cases of Ebola through the testing of systems, procedures and mechanisms that support effective response and to identify ongoing training needs_x000D_
Scope_x000D_
The exercise programme consisted of two distinct parts:_x000D_
_x000D_
1. A table-top exercise programme held in two venues in two districts (Kagera and Kigoma). This one day exercise (at each location) examined the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures and standard coordination principles along the One Health Approach framework . _x000D_
2. Multiple drills in operational locations (Health centres and dedicated treatment centres) testing relevant SOPs and operational procedures for managing EVD patients. _x000D_

The exercise programme focused on eight technical pillars namely: _x000D_
1. Coordination, _x000D_
2. Surveillance, _x000D_
3. Logistics, _x000D_
4. Case management, _x000D_
5. Infection Prevention and Control, _x000D_
6. Laboratory,_x000D_
7. Risk communication and _x000D_
8. Community engagement. _x000D_

Objectives _x000D_
The main objectives of the TTX and Drills was to test plans and organisation for response to an Ebola outbreak at the district level. In particular, the exercise was:_x000D_
• To assess the multi-sectorial EVD outbreak preparedness and response by using One Health Approach; _x000D_
• To test the level of capacity at regional, and district levels to use real time outbreak investigation and information sharing for a rapid response;_x000D_
• Testing plans, procedures and guidelines;_x000D_
• Demonstrating the coordination among the responding key technical areas;_x000D_
• Evaluating EVD contingency plan and all available EVD SOPs;_x000D_
• Identifying gaps in the EVD contingency plan and SOPs for improvement._x000D_
