Purpose_x000D_
The exercise purpose was to stress-test and evaluate the capabilities of the Ugandan_x000D_
PHEOC in the management of the different phases of an emergency response as well as to_x000D_
inform the forthcoming JEE process._x000D_
1.2. Scope_x000D_
The exercise was a functional exercise, simulating multiple cases of typhoid in different_x000D_
location within Kampala, the country’s capital city. Responding at a variety of injects, the_x000D_
participants practiced the processes involved in the response to these events from the_x000D_
deployment of an investigation team to the end of the outbreak._x000D_
1.3. Specific Objectives_x000D_
The specific objectives of the simulation exercise were to:_x000D_
1) Familiarize the PHEOC staff to the Ministry of Health National Multi-Hazard_x000D_
Preparedness and Response Plan for Public Health Threats and Emergencies;_x000D_
2) Practice and test the PHEOC handbook and SOPs;_x000D_
3) Provide additional data to inform the forthcoming JEE process in Uganda.
