A training on simulation exercises management and a table top exercise took place in Kadoma in the Masholand West Province of Zimbabwe between 23 and 24 May 2018.  The two-day event gathered 31 participants from the Ministry of health of Zimbabwe, the Civil Protection and the Ministry of Environment, Water & Climate and the WCO.  The first day focused on the use of simulation exercises within the IHR Monitoring and Evaluation Framework, the different types of simulation exercises and the processes for planning, developing and running exercises.  For the second day, an actual table top exercise took place to review the process involved in event detection, investigation, verification and response.  Based on findings and recommendations, the country will develop a multi-hazard response plan, conduct the after action review of cholera outbreak and use the findings to inform the development of the national action plans for health security.
