Funding to Institut Pasteur de Dakar and Africa CDC | Amount: £2,000,000 (2,440,000). | Surveillance: Support a coordinated approach to collection, analysis, and dissemination of accurate, timely data about the epidemiology of COVID-19 among member states. | Laboratory: Strengthen the capacity of staff in African COVID-19 laboratories to provide quality-assured testing for COVID-19 diagnosis, genotyping, and special studies. | Infection Prevention and Control: Provide direct technical assistance to highest priority countries on implementation of public health countermeasures, including social distancing; and develop additional guidance to countries on implementing rigorous hand hygiene and respiratory illness monitoring in all congregate settings. | Clinical Case Management: Provide resources to doctors, nurses and other frontline clinical officers across Africa to help them strengthen their capacity to manage COVID-19 patients."

Laboratory: Cascade trainings for staff at public health laboratories at the national and sub-national levels. Infection Prevention and Control: Develop and share up-to-date guidance and trainings for implementing rigorous hand hygiene and respiratory illness monitoring in all congregate settings, and for procuring information products. Clinical Case Management: Expand and enhance a pan-African network of clinicians who meet regularly online to expand information on clinical management of COVID-19 patients; distribute clinical case studies and key messages for clinicians through social media; and establish an online portal with training materials and other information products to support evidence-based COVID-19 clinical care."
