Key objectives

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Didier Reynders has decided to commit USD 350,000 to the United Nations Multi-Partner Trust Fund for the fight against cholera in Haiti. Since 2010, 800,000 people have been infected with cholera in Haiti and 9,000 have died. This voluntary contribution will support the United Nations’ new approach to end this epidemic, namely: -To intensify efforts to interrupt the transmission of cholera and improve access to care; -To solve the longer-term problems of access to water, sanitation and the health system; -To develop material aid to the victims, their families and communities. This contribution is part of Belgium’s global policy, including in the United Nations framework, to provide reliable support to the poorest and most vulnerable countries on their way to peace, stability and development
