The goal of the Sim Ex was to practice emergency response systems in the southern oblasts of Kyrgyzstan for high risk natural hazard such a flash flood and landslide, and bring stakeholders from different sectors together to understand and address critical challenges to health protection and identify gaps, application and obligations as to IHR (2005). _x000D_

Objectives were to:_x000D_
1. Highlight existing coordination arrangements and capacities in health sector in the southern region of Kyrgyzstan;_x000D_

ZWE - Conducted

The purpose of the workshop was to introduce the participants to the management of different types of simulations exercises and to provide them with an opportunity to review their roles and functions in the context of an infectious disease outbreak._x000D_ _x000D_ Through the exercise, participants reviewed the processes involved in event detection, verification and investigation and response._x000D_ _x000D_ More specifically, the objectives were:_x000D_ _x000D_ 1. Train on the planning, development, running and evaluation of different types of simulation exercises_x000D_ 2.

Rwanda - TTX

The objective of the visit of the preparedness strengthening team to Rwanda was to ensure that the_x000D_
country is as operationally ready as possible to detect, investigate and report potential EVD cases_x000D_
effectively and safely and to mount an effective response that will prevent a larger outbreak from_x000D_
developing if an EVD case is introduced into the country. The visit identified the next steps required_x000D_
to strengthen preparedness over 30, 60 and 90 days. The particular focus was supporting a country_x000D_

United Republic Of Tanzania - TTX

Exercise objectives were as follows_x000D_
• To test plans and procedures for national level response activation_x000D_
• To practice response coordination using IMS at national level_x000D_
Exercise scope_x000D_
As per the realized need for testing coordination this exercise scope will include:_x000D_
- A highly infectious disease outbreak in Tanzania (PHEIC)_x000D_
- Location of the exercise will be at national level MOH, the exercise was at Ministers_x000D_
