Request for public comment - "A Checklist for Pandemic Influenza Preparedness and Risk Management"

Dear colleagues,

To assist countries’ pandemic preparedness planning efforts, WHO Global Influenza Programme is developing a checklist for implementing the WHO guidance document on pandemic influenza preparedness – the “Pandemic Influenza Risk Management” (PIRM).

The checklist was drafted based on the principles outlined in PIRM and taking consideration of the components in the 2005 WHO checklist for pandemic influenza preparedness planning that are consistent with PIRM. Efforts were also made to link pandemic preparedness planning activities with IHR (2005) core capacity requirements through mapping with the indicators in the IHR core capacity monitoring framework and Joint External Evaluation (JEE) tool, integrating the essential capacities for managing pandemic influenza and the core capacities for managing broader health security threats.

Your review, comments, and suggestions are part of the development process of the checklist and will be used to finalize the document.
