Support the strengthening of surveillance activities in high risk states in Northern and southern Nigeria.
Comments
CDC funds AFENET staff in 11 northern states and LGA to support active case search for polio primarily and other vaccine preventable diseases. In addition, they work with WHO and other partners at national and state level to strenghten AFP surveillance. For the southern states, CDC through AFENET funds State epidemiologist, ASE, State DSNOs and ASDSNOs to carry out supervisory visits weekly . In addition, funds are provided to local level DSNOs to carry out active case search. This latter is in addition to resources provided by WHO.
