The International Association of National Public Health Institutes (IANPHI)1 links and strengthens national public health agencies by leveraging the experience and expertise of its member institutes to build robust public health systems. It is a vehicle for improving global health security (GHS) through partnership and peer-to-peer support in its network of 109 members. IANPHI’s interaction with WHO offers an opportunity to support countries’ preparedness and accountability for GHS through collaboration among national public health institutes (NPHIs), both directly by bilateral engagement and by multi-institutional partnerships for individual countries. The focus of the initiative is long-term, peer-to-peer support, strengthening public health core functions as defined by the International Health Regulations (2005) (IHR) and improving each country’s
capacity to measure its preparedness.
