The goal of the Sim Ex was to practice emergency response systems in the southern oblasts of Kyrgyzstan for high risk natural hazard such a flash flood and landslide, and bring stakeholders from different sectors together to understand and address critical challenges to health protection and identify gaps, application and obligations as to IHR (2005). _x000D_

Objectives were to:_x000D_
1. Highlight existing coordination arrangements and capacities in health sector in the southern region of Kyrgyzstan;_x000D_
2. Increase familiarity of health sector in the south of Kyrgyzstan with emergency preparedness and response planning, and emergency risk communication for natural hazards such as floods and landslides; _x000D_
3. Highlight the importance of a one health approach and involving sectors outside of health, such as Ministry of Emergency Situations and State Inspectorate for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Security;_x000D_
4. Explore cross-border implications of public health emergencies as related to IHR (2005)._x000D_
