To Arrange - coordinate with national stakeholders for better radiation emergency response OHS Officers are tasked with conducting radiation surveys, verifying the decontamination of patients, supervising the decontamination of Emergency Department (ED) facilities, and managing the disposal of radioactive waste. The OHS Emergency Response Team is composed of three certified personnel—two on active duty and one on standby—who are trained in radiological emergency procedures and rotate on-call responsibilities every two weeks.

A duty roster listing the team members and their contact information is submitted to the National Health Incident Command Center (NHICC). In the event of a Level 1 escalation by the NHICC, additional two teams (each consisting of three staff members) will be mobilized to ensure continuous 24/7 coverage.
The Emergency Departments of the following six Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) hospitals are equipped with decontamination facilities for use during radiological emergencies:
- Hamad General Hospital
- Al Wakra Hospital
- Al Khor Hospital
- Aisha Al Attiyah Hospital
- Hazm Mebaireek General Hospital
- The Cuban Hospital
Radioactive contaminated materials must be disposed of in clearly labeled, lead-lined waste containers. Wastewater generated from decontamination areas will be directed through a dedicated and isolated drainage system. The emergency department will designate a secure, shielded, and access-controlled temporary storage area for radioactive waste, which will be managed by OHS personnel. Coordination with the Ministry of Environment will be established for the off-site transport and final disposal of the collected radioactive waste.
