Mekong Basin Disease Surveillance (MBDS) eNewsletter March.2019

The MBDS (Mekong Basin Disease Surveillance) cooperation is a self-organized sub-regional network commenced in 2001. It is a collaboration effort among six Mekong Basin countries (and provinces of China), including Cambodia, Yunnan (and, since 2006, Guangxi) provinces of China, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. It aims to strengthen national and sub-regional capabilities in infectious disease surveillance and outbreak response, especially on 18 currently designated priority diseases including Ebola, MERS, Zika, Malaria and Dengue to rapidly and effectively control them. We would like to updating MBDS activities, upcoming international events, recent update and useful links and thank you for the opportunities you gave us to share with you

MBDS and DTRA Activities

The Mekong Basin Disease Surveillance Foundation in collaboration with Ministry of Health, Cambodia, organized a Partner’s Collaboration Forum in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on 14 - 15 February 2019.The forum was supported by Defense Treat Reduction Agency (DTRA) and its’ aim was to share country specific and regional experiences on outbreak analysis and inter-country, cross-border communication and to discuss future collaboration for regional outbreak analysis and the role of each partner on the way forward.

 

MBDS Regional Activities

MBDS and CORDS Activities

Representatives from Southern Africa Centre for Infectious Disease Surveillance (SACIDS) and Connecting Organizations for Regional Disease Surveillance (CORDS) visited to MBDS Mukdahan cross border site, Thailand to learn in the field, experiences and best practicesfrom MBDS as part ofthe “Internetwork Project on Digital Health EventInformation” on 26 February 2019.
