The goal of the Sim Ex was to strengthen preparedness level of the Chui oblast health system to practice emergency response for high risk natural hazard such an earthquake, by improving management effectiveness and coordination of response actions from different sectors, and address critical challenges to health protection and identify gaps._x000D_

1. The consequences of the earthquake for health facilities: facilities were damaged or even partially destroyed._x000D_
2. In the affected areas a big number of places with many victims who need emergency medical care. Ambulance service is overloaded._x000D_
3. The number of victims coming into territorial hospitals exceeds their capacity for emergency medical care and hospitalization._x000D_
4. A large number of people are trying to enter the hospital territory searching their relatives and disturb hospitals activities. _x000D_
5. The number of people killed in result of earthquakes is increasing. Local authorities attempt to impose all problems related to dead bodies to health facilities._x000D_
6. Due to the accident at the water purification station in the village Kemin liquid chlorine has leaked._x000D_
7. In the affected areas 3 camps for displaced people were deployed where it is required to organize medical support._x000D_
8. An outbreak of acute intestinal infections has occurred in some localities due to damage of the water supply and sewage networks._x000D_
