This Project is to improve regulatory framework for enforcement, strengthen national capacities in POPs pesticides and mercury management, strengthen national conditions to scale up the replacement of mercury-containing medical devices, disposal of mercury stocks and mercury-containing wastes generated from existing phase-out processes, and support the transformation of healthcare waste management systems, through four (4) project components: Component 1 - Strengthen the Policy, Regulatory and Institutional Frameworks for the management of POPs, Mercury and other Chemicals of Concern (CoC); Component 2 - Environmentally sound management disposal of obsolete stocks of Agrichemicals POPs, Mercury and their wastes; Component 3 - Establish Healthcare Waste Management (HCWM) Systems to effectively prevent U-POPs emissions, and develop Business Models for waste disposal at Healthcare Facilities which are aligned to the national COVID-19 recovery efforts; and Component 4 – Knowledge Sharing, Management & Evaluation.
