Purpose

Exercise Purpose_x000D_ The purpose of the GEOCX was to support participating PHEOCs in the assessment and improvement of their readiness to respond jointly and effectively to a global public health emergency._x000D_ Exercise Scope _x000D_ The exercise was a functional exercise which included PHEOCs of participating countries (players) as well as Health Ministries and EOCs of other relevant national government and non-government agencies and partners. Some WHO Regional Offices elected to participate as players in the exercise. WHO Regional Office EOC Focal Points provided support as Exercise Controllers. Where necessary, involvement of global entities and other actors, both private and public, was simulated. _x000D_ _x000D_ Objectives_x000D_ The exercise objectives were to:_x000D_ 1. demonstrate interoperability and coordination among participating PHEOCs and response partners when managing a global public health emergency (PHEIC); _x000D_ 2. assist participating PHEOCs in validating their operational plans and procedures; and_x000D_ 3. validate the utility of the PHEOC Framework as a guide for the development of public health emergency response capacity and capability._x000D_
