The workshop brought together 43 experts from countries, UN agencies, academia and WHO Regional Offices to review the concepts and technical guidance and identify key steps for the operationalisation of health emergency and disaster risk management (Health EDRM). The experts also discussed and finalized the methodology for the monitoring and reporting of the implementation of the Sendai Framework for disaster risk reduction, promoting a unified approach to building capacities across the health system. This guidance will enable countries, WHO and partners to align the health sector efforts to implement the SDGs, Sendai Framework, IHR (2005) and the Paris Agreement, as well as the WHO 13th General Programme of Work.
