The purpose of any simulation exercise is to help participants learn by identifying strengths and_x000D_ shortcomings in a safe environment and thus help to prepare for a real emergency situation. The_x000D_ intention of Exercise JADE is not to evaluate the performance of any individual or State Party but_x000D_ rather to engage in a collective activity, to share experience and to learn._x000D_ The specific objectives for Exercise JADE were as follows:_x000D_ 1. To test 2-way communications between the NFPs and WHO IHR Regional Contact Point_x000D_ using registered contact details;_x000D_ 2. To test NFP’s access and use of the Event Information Site (EIS);_x000D_ 3. To practice and test NFP’s assessment of public health events using the decision_x000D_ instrument contained in Annex 2 of the IHR (2005) and its notification process, including an_x000D_ EIS posting;_x000D_ 4. To assess multi- sectoral coordination between the NFP and other sectors, as applicable, in_x000D_ conducting basic risk assessment; and_x000D_ 5. To assess coordination between NFPs and the communications counterparts in developing_x000D_ statements and communication material for the public.
