In the case of serious adverse events following immunization  (AEFIs), or whenever WHO considers necessary, complaint investigation will be carried out according to an established procedure. 

WHO investigation into the cause(s) of vaccine performance issues or AEFIs may demonstrate a need for closer monitoring of the vaccine in question, further testing or its suspension from the WHO List of Prequalified Vaccines.
