Provide staff with basic orientation on principles of quality management and a quality management system
Why
Training is necessary to ensure that all staff members participate from the beginning in implementing the quality management system. This gives the staff members more affinity with the quality management system and increased knowledge facilitates involvement and commitment of staff members and more efficient implementation of the quality management system.
What
Organize an introductory training on quality management specific for the medical laboratory. This training must teach the fundamentals of quality in health care and the importance of quality management for the organization.
How & who
Laboratory Manager:
- Select an appropriate course/training.
- Identify funding for this training.
- Take a new folder and name this "Personnel Files".
- Add tabs to this folder with the name of each staff member on one tab.
- After the training, archive a copy of the certificate of each staff member in this folder behind the correct tab.
- Store the folder in the archive. Store it behind lock and key to prevent unauthorized access as the folder may contain sensitive personal data (maybe not now but certainly in the future).
- Note that when new staff members are hired, the laboratory must also properly teach these staff members in the principles of quality management and the quality management system.
