Naju City’s policies for older people cover six different areas:

    1. The Living Safety Support and Senior Citizen’s Benefit policy includes senior long-term care insurance, senior discounts, volunteer care service dispatch, daycare centers, basic pensions, reverse mortgages on houses, providing nursing home services, short-term care, visiting nursing care services, visiting bathing services, and all day care centers, etc.
    2. The city runs a 24-hour specialist counseling program for older people to help prevent instances of elder abuse.

 

  1. The city-run programs include social education, in-home welfare projects, a mobile welfare center, a senior volunteering project, mobile baths, support for social activities for older people, etc., and providing services such as a life-long learning program with classes on Chinese characters and computers, along with karaoke, hobbies/pastimes, yoga, foot care, etc.
  2. In-home welfare programs for older people are operated through four programs including meal delivery to older people with impaired mobility, safety checks and home caregivers for older individuals who live alone and caregiver dispatch. Additional services include living care services such as meal provision for older people with low-income who live alone, and various additional support services.
  3. Health and Welfare policies include free alternative surgery for low-income individuals, metabolic syndrome control, dementia examination, support for dementia treatment, support for artificial knee surgery for the low-income elderly, visiting healthcare, and classes for stroke prevention through Chinese medicine, the provision of intensive care for age-related diseases and support for treatment costs.
  4. Job support programs include public interest type, market type, social service type, and personnel dispatch type.

All of these programs are sponsored by the local government to guarantee participants a certain amount of an income based upon their minimum labor.
