キングス・カレッジ・ロンドン (Department of Global Health and Social Medicine) 研究員、トリエステ大学 (Public Economics) 非常勤教授、ヴェネツィア・カフォスカリ大学 (Department of Economics) 研究員。

加齢経済学に取り組む公共経済学・医療経済学の専門家。公共政策が及ぼす影響に着目し、国際比較の観点からフォーマル・ケアとインフォーマル・ケアの需要と供給における不平等、また、個人および社会が負担する介護費用に関する研究に取り組んでいる。研究目標は、社会的ケアや年金政策といった制度のあり方が世代間および世代内の健康と福祉の不平等(雇用と貯蓄、高齢者とその家族の間の経済的支援の実情など)にどのように影響するかを解明すること。因果推論のための高度な定量的研究手法には、欧州および世界的な大規模データセットを適用している。

研究成果は、Health EconomicsSocial Science and MedicineAmerican Journal of EpidemiologyJournal of Gerontologyなど、経済学、疫学、老年学の主要学術誌に掲載されている。書籍では、パルグレイブ・マクミラン社から、欧州の介護政策の介護を必要する人々に対する実効性に関する専門書を出版。現在、Marjolein Broese van Groenou 教授(アムステルダム自由大学)主導の Open Research Area(ORA)資金運営プロジェクトにおいて共同研究に従事、さまざまな介護制度および近年の介護改革が社会経済的不平等とどのように関連しているか、また、不平等が高齢介護利用者と介護者の福利に及ぼす影響について調査研究を行っている。また、キングス・カレッジ・ロンドンとパリ大学による資金提供プロジェクトでは、主導研究者として、欧州における高齢者のフレイルに対処するための介護プログラムの有効性に関する研究に取り組んでいる。
