Nowon-gu strives to be a ‘Healing City, Nowon’, and realize it’s vision of ‘Living Healthy at 100’. To achieve this vision, Nowon-gu has established three main sectors named ‘Nowon, vibrant with life and health’, ‘Willing to live in Nowon, all generations mixed’, and ‘Nowon, safe and comfortable’. These three sectors connect with eight Age-Friendly City guidelines provided by WHO. Nowon-gu has developed 46 tasks associated with these three sectors which will be ongoing until 2022.

To establish the project and the associated tasks, Nowon-Gu will including the voice of older people as key consultants for determining the degree of age-friendliness and the whole process of building the Age-Friendly City.

The consultation process, as well as the various tasks outlined, will help target areas such as social participation, job/volunteer opportunities/self-employment, housing/transportation and help foster intergenerational relationships.

Nowon-gu is aiming to develop a ‘task force’ including both public and private organizations to help with the planning and implementation of tasks required for establishing an age-friendly city in Nowon. The ‘task force’ will hold regular meetings either monthly or quarterly however urgent meetings can be held if needed. The team is divided into five departments namely ‘Care Management’, ‘Medical Management’, ‘Infrastructure’, ‘Collaboration Management’, and ‘Public, Private Cooperation’. With this system, the team can collaborate with each other, discuss plans for local support and reinforce its commitment to establishing an age-friendly city.
