In order to create a city where all residents can live happily, an ordinance on the creation of Mapo-gu age-friendly city was enacted. Additionally while operating the Mapo Aging Think Tank Alliance (MATTA) consisting of experts in various fields such as construction, urban planning, environment and social welfare, we are seeking advice on age-friendly city policies.

An age-friendly city monitoring group consisting of adults and older adults has been established to promote activities and inform policies in the region.
In addition, a survey was created and distributed to 800 residents regarding the establishment of an age-friendly city plan which was further supplemented through focus group interviews.

Through the cooperation of 16 community centers, 1 senior employment organization, and 14 private agencies,  approximately 3,000 jobs have been created for older citizens to help support stable income and social participation.

A policy communication platform has also been established where everyone regardless of age and sex can propose or ask questions as they relate to city policies. Policy recommendations can be adopted after review by relevant divisions and expert groups (external members).

After all these efforts, Mapo-gu established the vision ‘A 100-year-old, Mapo, an age-friendly city’ and set up four goals to systematically establish and promote mid/long-term plans for an age-friendly city.
