World report on ageing and health

The World report on ageing and health summarizes the best available evidence on the way countries have developed policies and responded to the health of older people. It outlines a framework for action to foster Healthy Ageing built around the new concept of functional ability.

The report will be launched globally by the WHO Director-General on September 30, the eve of the International Day of Older Persons, in Washington D.C. in the presence of representatives from Member States, civil society organizations, the media and prominent older people. Other events are being planned.

To help promote the Report and its messages, there are several related products in preparation which will be available to all. These include a summary, a fact sheet, a fact file, an infographic and a range of multimedia and other advocacy materials for the web and social media.

The main report will be available in English and Spanish, and the Executive Summary in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish, by the launch date.

To promote the Report, WHO will start to communicate on social media using the hashtag #yearsahead
