Namhae-gun has established the vision of a “Vital 100 year old city, Treasure Island Namhae” in line with the top eight WHO guidelines

According to the vision, eight areas encompassed by three major tasks will be prioritized for the establishment of an age-friendly city

1. First, create a physical environment for a pleasant and safe life.
   • 1st area : Outdoor space and buildings
   • 2nd area : Transportation
   • 3rd area : Residential facilities
2. Second, create a social environment that forms a community of participation and communication.
   • 4th area : Social participation
   • 5th area: Respect and social engagement
   • 6th area: Citizen’s participation and employment
   • 7th area: Communication and information
3. Third, create a service environment that ensures an active and healthy retirement plan.
   • 8th area: Community support and health service

The three-year budget for the three objectives, encompassing eight areas, and 52 detailed projects is estimated to cost a total of 49,360 million Korean won(41 million US$).

Namhae-gun’s age-friendly city has formed an older age monitoring group to help develop policies for older citizens, utilizing a bottom-up participation method to participate in the development of municipal policies and to provide opinions and input which reflect the interests of older citizens.
