As society is aging, Michuhol-gu is committed to establishing policies for older adults. In order to create an age-friendly city, Michuhol-gu sets up the vision of “United Michuhol, Generation-integrated Age-friendly city” by reflecting the eight areas of the WHO guidelines and opinions of residents.

The five major policy goals of the age-friendly city of Michuhol-gu are as follows: a generation-integrated age-friendly city; a safe age-friendly city; a sustainable age-friendly city; a job-friendly age-friendly city; and a healthy age-friendly city. The 49 detailed projects and 10 implementation areas were derived for each of goals.

Michuhol-gu is operated according to policies developed based on public-private cooperation among civil servants, the age-friendly city creation committee, and a policy monitoring group. Michuhol-gu civil servants conduct quantitative evaluations of the achievement rate against the implementation goals in cooperation with other groups and residents, including older adult citizens, and carry out qualitative evaluations through age-friendliness surveys to assess the sensitivity of each area.
