WHO has prequalified the Determine™ Syphilis Advanced (Abbott Diagnostics Medical Co., Ltd., Japan), a point-of-care immunoassay for the qualitative detection of antibodies to Treponema pallidum in whole blood, plasma, or serum, intended for use by healthcare professionals in the diagnosis of syphilis in adults and adolescents aged 12 and above, including pregnant women.
