Dr Eiji Hinoshita is the Assistant Minister for Global Health and Welfare, Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) since April 2022. Dr Hinoshita joined MHLW in 2001 as Deputy Director, Health Science Division, after working as a surgeon at Kyushu University Hospital, Nakabaru Hospital and Matsuyama Red Cross Hospital. He has a wide range of experience such as having worked for the Permanent Mission of Japan to the United Nations in New York, the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Global Health Policy Division and the Ministry of Defense responsible for Health and Medical Division.
