United States of America – Portland, Oregon Assessment Report

“In the late fall of 2006, researchers at the Institute on Ageing in the School of Community Health at Portland State University were invited to collaborate with the World Health Organization (WHO) on its Age-Friendly Cities Project. This project was designed to identify indicators of an age-friendly city based on the views of older adults, informal caregivers, and service providers. One outcome was a practical guide, developed by the WHO, for the purpose of stimulating and guiding advocacy, community development, and policy change to make urban communities more age-friendly. The guide has been distributed worldwide.”
