Sharjah Executive Council approves the new strategic plan for the Sharjah Age-Friendly City Program 2024-2026
The Executive Council of the Emirate of Sharjah, headed by Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, reviewed the report on the results of the second strategic plan for the Sharjah Age-Friendly City Program 2021-2023. Which dealt with the efforts of the Emirate of Sharjah to join the global network of age-friendly cities, the strategic map, the tasks accomplished, and the entities implementing the strategic activities, in addition to the development of meeting the criteria for age-friendly cities in terms of axes and standards, and the transfer of global practices, which numbered 114 practices, to local authorities.The report reviewed the completion rate of the second strategic plan for the year 2021-2023, which amounted to 99%, as the Global Network of Age-Friendly Cities stipulates the launch of many initiatives and activities to support the standards of age-friendly cities and improve the services provided to the elderly. The number of activities and initiatives reached 46 activities provided by 27 local entities.In turn, the Executive Council of the Emirate of Sharjah approved the new plan for the Sharjah Age-Friendly City Program 2024-2026.
