Among their loved ones and friends, the elderly at the Elderly Care Home of the Sharjah Social Services Department celebrated the 53rd National Day through a program full of cultural, artistic and heritage events, with the participation of the employees of the homes, departments and branches affiliated with the department and members of the community.

Maryam Al Qatari, Director of the Home, said that the Social Services Department decided to participate in the celebrations of the National Day of the Emirate of Sharjah, in the Elderly Care Home, in order to make the members of the home happy and involve them in the many and varied activities, in addition to the large participation of the parties that expressed their desire to share the joy of the elderly, which is what we aspire to achieve through the events that are being organized, which is to take our elderly out of their isolation and integrate them into social life and community participation.

On this occasion, we transformed the external courtyard of the home into an open arena for celebration and display, in addition to the theater that hosted many diverse performances. A number of external entities also participated, either by attending or by submitting contributions. The celebration included a wide range of events and activities that combine heritage and creativity, which started from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm, and are segments that suit all categories concerned by the Department of Social Services.

The participations were as follows: The national anthem was played by the Sharjah Civil Aviation Department’s music band, an Islamic plants workshop from the Islamic Garden in Sharjah, and NB Company provided games for children, clown shows, and face painting. Al Barza Band participated with a folklore tableau, and the children of the Amiri Guard Nursery presented an artistic segment. As for the Nakheel Association for the Art of Emirati Folk Heritage, it presented a beautiful tableau about the Emirati and popular wedding, and the activities included henna and popular foods.
