Sharjah Municipality continues to implement the initiative (the quality of living environment in the homes of the elderly) within the strategic plan of the Sharjah Age-friendly City Program for three consecutive years, targeting More than 190 homes for the elderly in the emirate of Sharjah. 52 households drinking water checks, and 20 environmental safety checks are conducted.

The municipality seeks to meet the international standards stipulated by the global network of age-friendly cities, as this initiative covers the housing axis, which is one of the axes of age-friendly cities, especially the following components: maintenance, the aging of the elderly in their homes, and the living environment. As the initiative contributes to preserving the health of the elderly by providing a healthy, safe and pollution-free environment and contributes to raising the quality of life for the elderly.
