1. City Policies, Programs, and Services
○ Yongin City has implemented 48 specific tasks related to aging society based on four areas identified in the ‘4th Basic Plan for Low Birthrate and Aging Society in 2020’: ‘Creating a society where we work and care together’, ‘Building a healthy and active aging society’, ‘Creating a society where everyone’s capabilities are evenly displayed’, and ‘Adapting to changes in population structure’. These tasks include ensuring income security for retirees, preparing for an age-integrated society, and strengthening lifelong education and vocational training.
– Additionally, Yongin City has provided policy support for the elderly through the establishment of local regulations related to elderly welfare.
○ Yongin City has set the vision of ‘Yongin Special City – creating special future together with all generations’ by performing research projects for joining the WHO Global Network of Age-friendly Cities & Communities and forming an age-friendly city.
○ Yongin City has set specific goals as follows: ‘Creating a living environment where all citizens feel safe and secure’, ‘Achieving social integration through inter-generational understanding and respect for the elderly’ and ‘Establishing a healthy and leisurely welfare system for later lives’.
Based on this, Yongin City has established an age-friendly city action plan comprising a total of 55 detailed projects.
2. Internal Organization and Public-Private Cooperation Organization in Yongin City
○ The internal organization in charge of developing an age-friendly city and promoting policies in Yongin City falls under the Welfare and Women’s Affairs Bureau, specifically the Senior Welfare Department, which is composed of the Senior Policy Team, Senior Care Team, Senior Facilities Team, and Funeral Culture Team.
○ For cooperation related to developing an age-friendly city, Yongin City has established the Local Community Security Council, which aims at strengthening coordination and cooperation with relevant agencies, corporations, and organizations to enhance collaboration
