• The Vale of Glamorgan Local Service Board’s Ageing Well Plan 2016-2018 outlines a number of activities that have be undertaken in partnership over recent years to meet the needs and aspirations of older people across the Vale.
• The Vale of Glamorgan Public Service Board’s 2023-2028 Well-being Plan sets out the PSB’s commitment to improving life for all in the Vale. Work across the 3 Well-being Objectives will help develop the Vale as a more age friendly place to live, and friendlier place for all. ‘Becoming an Age Friendly Vale’ has been identified as a priority workstream of specific focus. The PSB Well-being Objectives are reflected in a number of partner corporate plans.
• The Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan Regional Partnership Board’s Local Area Plan for Care and Support Needs 2018 – 2023 provides information on the range of services to be provided in response to care and support needs identified in the Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan’s Population Needs Assessment (PNA). The PNA explores the care and support needs across the population including older people, those with dementia, carers, veterans, those with health and physical disabilities and sensory loss and impairment.
• The Ageing Well Cardiff and Vale Partnership Group brings colleagues and older people representatives across the region together to discuss local challenges, opportunities and activities for older people.
• The Vale 50+ Strategy Forum is an active group of people aged 50 and over working together to ensure the voice and needs of older people are heard both locally and nationally. The Forum is supported by the Vale of Glamorgan Council.
• The Vale of Glamorgan Council signed the Dublin Declaration, a commitment to the development of age-friendly communities.
• The Vale of Glamorgan Council has an Older Person’s Champion Cabinet Member to ensure older people are considered in all political decisions
