The Township of Tiny is proud to offer an abundance of programs and services targeted at the older population. We are committed to continually exploring opportunities to enhance senior services and creating a community where older people are valued and can enjoy good health, happiness, and fulfillment. As a result, the Township has completed a Local Aging Plan. The goal of the plan is to improve the overall health, well-being and quality of life for older people across the Township. The Local Aging Plan outlines Tiny’s opportunities to enhance older people services and strategies to develop an Age-Friendly Community.

To further support older adults living in our community, the Township of Tiny Senior Advisory Committee is an incredibly active group of six non-elected members (volunteers) and one elected member of Council who work on an ongoing basis to advise Council on all matters related to the well-being and quality of life for seniors, including the opportunities and challenges arising from a growing and diverse aging population. The Senior Advisory Committee consults and collaborates with older people, older people’ organizations and others to gather information and provide advice regarding older people’ needs. The Senior Advisory Committee provides assistance in identifying new program development and delivery for older people and aging adults in the Township. The Committee also provides programming for older people in the community where appropriate, such as the “Senior Speaker Series” – various workshops geared towards addressing issues related to aging.

The Township of Tiny Recreation Department is responsible for and prioritizes ensuring older adults are provided with programming throughout the year, including recreation activities, social and volunteer opportunities. Through Township budgets and additional yearly grant funding, we are able to ensure that older adults have services and programs available to them throughout the year. We are continually assessing and evaluating our programs and services to ensure that the needs of older adults in the community are being met.
