Committed To Becoming More Age-Friendly
Town of Paris United States of America
Over the past eighteen (18) months, the Paris Revitalization Committee has spearheaded the development and approval of a Strategic Plan for Market Square, a comprehensive plan focused on the “downtown” of Paris. During this effort, several quality of life issues surfaced. The Committee made several recommendations to the Town, including but not limited to improving the roadway and traffic pattern, streetscapes, signage, a center for senior citizens, and development of recreational opportunities. There are state-wide initiatives to lower the tax burden on seniors, to raise the wage of home health care workers, and address the aged stock of housing for Maine residents. Additionally, numerous agencies have been meeting to coordinate the plethora of services and support for our aging population. The efforts of these groups parallel the needs and desires of the community at large. The Aging In Place Initiative mirrors many of the goals that have already been identified by these groups. We need a cohesive plan to bring all of this together.
