In Rosenheim we have a “Seniorenbeirat” to represent older adults in politics of our City. We also have the “Seniorenpolitisches Gesamtkonzept” including a description of all the needs for age-friendly goals to be achieved for our City.
Demographic change will change the living conditions of older people over the coming decades—particularly in the cities and communities where people live, work, and interact.

This comprehensive policy framework for older adults in the City of Rosenheim addresses this future challenge. Drawing on expert surveys and sound analysis, it outlines the current and future needs of older adult residents across key areas of action, while developing perspectives and concrete recommendations to shape social policy.
In collaboration with local civil society—including clubs, associations, churches, and community initiatives—the needs of older adult citizens (whether or not they require long-term care) will become increasingly important.
We are placing special emphasis on urban planning, the design of transport networks, and the local infrastructure for essential services catering to older adults and those in need of care. Future requirements for home-based support services, outpatient care facilities, and an integrated support network across our three social districts also play a vital role.
We face significant challenges, for the goal is not merely to add years to life, but to add life to years—ensuring dignity and the greatest possible independence for everyone. Municipalities—as the places where older adult citizens live—must address the challenges posed by the demographic shift toward an increasingly aging population. These challenges include, for example, ensuring barrier-free access, opportunities for social participation, adequate infrastructure (shops, medical care, etc.), and home-based support services, as well as providing various forms of housing suitable for older adults.
