La ville de Sceaux est engagée depuis de nombreuses années dans des actions de solidarité qui assurent le maintien du lien social autour des personnes âgées fragiles et isolées. C’est au titre de ces actions que la ville de Sceaux a obtenu le label «Bien vieillir-vivre ensemble» décerné par le ministère français des Affaires sociales et de la santé, en janvier 2010.

Dans le cadre du label «Bien vieillir – vivre ensemble», la Ville s’est engagée dans un audit urbain en y associant des aînés, des aidants familiaux, des représentants des instances consultatives comme le conseil des Aînés, le comité Ville pour tous, et l’ensemble des acteurs locaux concernés. 
De nombreuses actions ont été menées, autour de trois grands axes :

1. Lutter contre l’isolement, maintenir le lien social et développer les solidarités intergénérationnelles,
   • Projet “Voisin-âge”,
   • Lien intergénérationnel lors de la semaine Bleue,
   • Sorties et activités culturelles,
2. Prévenir la perte d’autonomie des seniors,
   • Atelier du bien vieillir et du bien vivre chez soi,
   • Activités physiques adaptées,
   • Rendez-vous santé,
3. Favoriser et valoriser la participation des séniors à la vie citoyenne,
   • Création et animation du conseil des Aînés depuis 2003,
   • Réalisation du guide des seniors en collaboration avec des aînés,
   • Atelier en petits groupes pour collecter les attentes et besoins des seniors.

Ces actions mettent l’accent sur l’information, la prévention, la participation sociale et citoyenne, l’inclusion sociale, la transmission intergénérationnelle et la communication. Elle s’inscrivent dans l’esprit de la démarche “Ville amie des aînés”.
C’est à ce titre que la ville de Sceaux a rejoint l’Organisation Mondiale de la Santé (WHO) et le Réseau Mondial des « Villes amies des aînés » en 2014, signe de l’engagement de la Ville dans l’amélioration de la qualité de vie et pour un vieillissement actif.

For several years, the city of Sceaux has been committed to volunteer work that supports the social insertion of fragile and isolated seniors. With these actions, the city of Sceaux obtained the label “Well ageing- living together» in January 2010, awarded by the French Ministry of Social Affairs and Health.

Within the framework of this label, the city has started an urban consultative process associating seniors, caregivers, representatives of the consultative authorities, such as the « Elders’ Council » and the « Committee City for all », and other relevant local actors. An array of actions have come out of these consultations:

1. Fighting against isolation, maintaining social integration and developing intergenerational solidarity,
   • The Project “Aged-Friendly neighborhood”,
   • Intergenerational interactions during the “Blue Week’’,
   • Outings and cultural activities,
2. Preventing a loss of autonomy for seniors,
   • Workshops on “ageing well” and on “living well at home”,
   • Appropriate physical fitness activities,
   • Heath appointments,
3. Supporting and promoting the participation of seniors in civic life,
   • Creation of the ‘’Elders’ council’’ in 2003 and it animation with many citizenship related actions ever since,
   • Elaboration of a “Seniors’ guide ” made in collaboration with elderly citizens,
   • Small focal groups to determine the needs and expectations of seniors.

These activities all emphasize the need for information, communication, prevention, social and civic participation, social inclusion and inter-generational interactions in line with the spirit of the Age-friendly Cities approach.

The city of Sceaux joined the World Health Organization’  Global Network of Age-friendly Cities and Communities in 2014. This membership reflects the commitment of the City of Sceaux to further strive to improve the living conditions and enable an active ageing of its seniors.
