To implement the age friendly community concept, Sarata Veche village applies several social services for the benefit of older persons. There are four social workers in the locality, three of whom are state social service workers who have more than 21 beneficiaries and one worker in the “CASMED” project, who has 10 beneficiaries. The services of two social laundries ensure the maintenance of 20 older beneficiaries bedridden and impaired in movement.

Older persons are also involved in all local working groups, City Council committees, and the village council. During the general meetings and by sector, problems concerning the interests of older persons are addressed and resolved as much as possible. Each recreation institution in the locality  includes activities with the involvement of older persons, according to the Action Plan regarding the implementation of the Age-Friendly Community Development Strategy (AFC). The strategic plan for the development of the locality is in part informed by the results of the activities of the Aging and Health Project, allowing older persons to be partners to the Village Council. This is supported by the mayor’s office of Sarata Veche commune, Falesti district.

In the locality, volunteerism is very actively promoted in various community actions, of various kinds, promoted with ardor by older persons and especially by the representatives of the Tarancuta Club from the Sarata Veche commune. It is equally important that older people continue to have a good reason to go out and participate. Cultural offers and entertainment that cater to the interests of older people, opportunities for volunteering or civic engagement contribute to a fulfilling and enjoyable older age.
