The San Martin Municipality actively seeks to generate policies for older people under principles of human rights, equality and non-discrimination based on age paradigm, thus promoting good treatment activities with an integral and transversal approach.

Among others, the Municipality carries out the following actions to ensure good treatment of its older population, such as:

  1. Accessible and inclusive recreational and cultural activities
  2. Comprehensive care and support for older people through the “Care for Us Program” which enables preservation of autonomy and quality of life
  3. Meeting Centre for the Community with permanent care for people over 60 years of age in a situation of socio-economic and/or familial instability
  4. Training of Home Nurses for Older people
  5. Summer and winter celebrations, with cultural, recreational and physical activities, etc.
  6. Planning for the control and regulation of long-term residences, which are then published in an online registry (along with the people who have completed the training as certified caregivers by the Ministry of Social Development of the Nation)
  7. Distribution of “Mi San Martín” credit cards with promotions and discounts in local stores, such as pharmacies and supermarkets, among others
  8. Accessibility in different shopping centres of the city, with the creation of 1200 ramps and 400 to be finished in the near future;
  9. A health activities program held in the main squares of the city;
  10. Establishment of the Local Council for older people, with the participation of different institutions and organizations across the city.
