An age-friendly city aims to create an environment where all citizens, including older adults, can live a physically, mentally, and socially well-rounded life.
Therefore, to make Paju a city where residents wish to continue living and sustaining their lives, improvements across various domains are necessary.
The existing policies in different sectors of Paju already demonstrate efforts toward establishing a Paju-style age-friendly city.
The following content presents an analysis of Paju City’s project plans as of 2024. However, it does not include all city-led initiatives but highlights key projects closely related to the WHO’s eight domains of age-friendly cities.

1)External Environment and Facilities
– Construction of a Dementia-Specialized Municipal Senior Care Facility
– Reconstruction of the Municipal Day and Night Care Center
-Construction of Munsan Senior Welfare Center and Public Health Branch Integrated Center
-Installation of electric mobility device charging stations in all Administrative Welfare Centers and Welfare Centers
-Establishment of a Shelter for Elderly Persons with Disabilities and securing provincial funding
-Support for activating Senior Leisure Welfare Facilities
-Construction of Unjeong Danurim Senior and Disability Welfare Center
-Development of Beobwon Cultural Park

2) Transportation
– Strengthening mobility rights for pedestrian-vulnerable groups such as older adults and persons with disabilities.
-Rural Call-and-Ride “Ttok Bus” Service (on-demand bus)
-Operation of the 1,000won taxi service

3) Housing Facilities
– Emergency safety and security services for older adults living alone
– Expansion of Housing Safety Services, including the installation of safety bars for discharged patients, anti-slip measures, and cleaning & disinfection services

4) Social Participation
– Expansion of  job opportunities and social activity supports for older adults
-Paju City’s “Community Resident Proposal Project”.

5) Social Respect and Inclusion
-Construction of a Senior Welfare Center in Unjeong to address the growing population of older adults and persons with disabilities

6) Social Participation and Employment
-Expansion of job opportunities and social activity support programs
– Opening and normalization of additional job project sites (Cafe Youth Dream, Gyeonggi-GS Convenience Store)
– Expansion of Senior Job Service Institutions (Unjeong Comprehensive Social Welfare Center)

7) Communication and Information
– ICT-Based Safety and Care System (Smart Companion Doll Hyodol-e for Cognitive, Emotional, and Medication Management, Paju Safe-e Mobile App)
-Implementation of  information and communication technology (ICT) for safety checks
-Creation of Senior Culture and Sports Learning Hub
-Implementation of Emergency Safety and Security Service Monitoring Support

8) Health and Community Care
–  Support for social relationship networks for mobility-impaired single-person gouseholds
– Mobile medical support and visiting medical services for medically underserved areas (Our Neighborhood Doctor Program)
– Establishing community social support networks (Our Neighborhood Ondol Room Program)
– Support for Senior Center heating/cooling costs, operational expenses, and health promotion equipment
-Customized care services and safety support for vulnerable older adults
