The older adult community in Los Gatos currently has access to a variety of programs provided by the Town and other community partnerships and organizations, including a 55+ recreation program through the Los-Gatos Saratoga Recreation Community Center, nutrition and wellness resources through Live Oak Senior Nutrition Center and Adult Day Services, and residential care and retirement communities that offer specialized programs. The Town also provides resources for seniors living in Los Gatos on the Town website. The Town-appointed Age-Friendly Task Force has identified the following key work plan items::
• A collaborative of community partners to offer age-friendly and inclusive social events and community-wide dances.
• Emergency preparedness lectures and demonstrations specific to older adults. We will work with community partners to provide access and contributions of emergency supply kits.
• We will produce an infographic resource describing available community services for all residents. These will be available at the Town Departments including the Library, Police Department as well as local community centers.
• We will explore a public/private partnership to offer a variety of on-demand transportation options for older adults.
