Programmes:
Active Ageing programme will run for a period of 12 months across the LCCC main leisure sites; It is hoped that when an Age Friendly Action Plan is formed it will be embedded across all council department policies and action plans.

Lisburn: Lagan Valley LeisurePlex, Brook Activity Centre, Glenmore Activity Centre, Grove Activity Centre and Kilmakee Activity Centre. Activities on offer fall under four broad themes; Walk with Me events; Splash events; Dance with Me events and Get Up and Go events. The range of physical activity opportunities varies from council to council and some venues even offer tea and coffee at reduced rates. For more information contact the relevant centre.

The Castlereagh Safe and Well Project (C-SAW) offers a range of physical activity programmes for Over 60s and People with Disabilities. Why not try out the fitness suite, free of charge, or become involved in one of our physical activity group sessions, which include aerobics, chair based activities and lots of other sports! We also run 6 week social programmes for older people, which fits in time for exercise, a cuppa and a chat! First aid training, home safety and cookery classes are on offer for any age group

LCCC has recently recruited Kelly Irwin as the Macmillan Move More Coordinator who will be responsible for providing people affected by cancer with the support, motivation and opportunities that they may require to become and remain active. Kelly will meet with people affected by cancer on an individual basis at a time and place that suits them.
