The commune of Lampa, located in the northern sector of the Santiago Metropolitan Region (RM) in the province of Chacabuco, has 9,195 elderly people that make up 9.01% of the total population. Currently, 44 groups of older adults are actively meeting in the commune.

The existing age-friendly activities in the commune were born from the management of Mayor Mrs. Graciela Ortúzar Novoa. These include regular territorial meetings focused on the services offered to older adults of the commune (health, social, sports, education and cultural), transportation for recreational activities outside of the commune to improve interpersonal relationships between older adults and funds available to cover equipment/materials for activities, among others. Additionally, celebrations of anniversaries and festivities in the community provide the elderly a place to meet and enjoy games and activities.

Regarding external programs, Lampa currently participates in the Links Program and protected housing condominiums program, which work to provide comprehensive coverage of the elderly through SENAMA. In terms of health care services, home-based doctors and home chiropodists are key to provide the entire older adult population with the opportunity for quality and dignified care.

Finally, it is important to highlight the commitment of our mayor, Mrs. Graciela Ortúzar Novoa, who serves as a central axis for these initiatives and makes sure to prioritize the needs of the elderly by recognizing their rights and the great contribution that they make to the local development of the commune.
