Voluntary participation with other local communities (Town of Regina Beach and the Village of Buena Vista) in development of a co-ordinated Age-Friendly strategy for the lakeside area over the past three years. This resulted in a Provincial Award shared by the three communities.

Communication of the Age-friendly initiative and ongoing awareness continued through collaboration with the nearby communities. This is done through electronic news, pamphlets, and joint community meetings.

We encourage senior activities such as walking, hiking, biking, golf, outdoor photography, social events, boating, fishing and winter activities. We also encourage volunteerism for the community and to each other. Family events (grandkids) are also welcomed. We are currently remodeling our community park and beach area to better facilitate family gatherings, kids playing and social events. As well we are in the process of installing reflective street signs and composing a community map to ensure emergency response can easily find residential addresses.

Today we are installing a Fire Risk road sign to better indicate Fire Bans throughout the community as may be required. We also have a volunteer resident who participates on the First-Responders Committee to enhance our knowledge of their activities and requirements to make our area better equipped to react to health and other emergencies. Given the smaller community size we also encourage our residents to participate the Leisure Time Club, a seniors association promoting friendship, activities and socials. The local medical clinic also provides our communities with health related matters.

Our community continues to grow as people recognize the advantages of lake life. Although small we hope to make a difference with the friendly atmosphere we provide as neighbours.
