The municipality of Juanacatlán is an institution that cares about vulnerable people, so we serve as a means or channel of communication with the different institutions of the federal government and the state government in order to help senior citizens access all of the benefits offered to those in situations of vulnerability.

In addition, as a municipality, we have different types of services and specific programs for the elderly. Some examples include the following:

  • Welfare canteens, through which balanced and healthy food is provided in the mornings and afternoons
  • Issuance of INAPAM cards, which provide discounts on payments for different products and transportation
  • PAAD pantry support, once a month for about 200 elderly people
  • Senior groups that seek to improve the physical and mental health of the elderly through activities such as ballroom dancing, educational games, excursions to various parts of the municipality, as well as some outside of the municipality
  • Cultural events, including the Celebration of the Contest of the Queen of the Elderly, a day which is celebrated with music, food, drinks, and dance
  • In addition, Grandfather’s Day, Mother’s Day and national holidays are celebrated, where the elderly participate in parades and are specially acknowledged in the community.
