Committed To Becoming More Age-Friendly
Jeongeup-si Republic of Korea
Jeongeup-si joined the Global Network of Age-friendly Cities and Communities in 2014
Extensive consultations on the age-friendliness of the city were conducted in 2013. The voices of citizens were collected through a variety of methods, including through the “Jeongeup Age-friendly BAND”, a SNS network among Smartphone users.
Based on this consultation, 10 guidelines were developed for the City, drawing on the findings from the consultations and structured around the 8 WHO domains as well as multiculturalism and life-long learning.
We have set up a city-wide Age-friendly City network composed of local colleges, research centres, advisory groups and citizens with the aim to recondition the city environment through collaboration among participants. A local community support center support center was put in place to actively support the various policies and foster the participation of citizens as a corner stone of root democracy.
We are currently in the process of developing an age-friendly action plan.
