Gwangjin-gu developed ‘2024 Gwangjin-type age friendly city three-year plan’ with the vision of ‘A leading age friendly city, Happy Gwangjin.’ We revised ‘Ordinance on senior welfare and age-friendly city of Gwangjin-gu, Seoul’, and carried out a research project on the current state of Gwangjingu and residents’ welfare demand.
Gwangjin-gu intends to form a monitoring group in the process of establishing an action plan for an age-friendly city to provide opportunities for citizen participation and collect opinions from citizens. Gwangjin-gu conducted focus groups of residents and experts in the process of creating an age-friendly city. Through the focus groups, perspectives on Gwangjin-gu’s living conditions, age-friendliness, regional gaps, and satisfaction with age-friendly policies were identified. Using the research findings Gwangjin-gu will create a more complete and age-friendly urban environment.

The three-year plan, which was developed based on the age friendly analysis of Gwangjing-gu as well as on the welfare demand of the residents, is composed of 4 strategic goals and 40 core projects that will be carried out from 2024 to 2026. The core projects encompass the 8 domains within the WHO age-friendly framework, and will contribute towards building Gwangjin a city of participation, health, security, and openness, as well as towards active membership in the WHO Global Network for Age-friendly Cities and Communities. For instance,  projects such as ‘Beverage delivery services for older persons,’, ‘Fall accident prevention safe home project,’ and ‘Age friendly monitoring group’ all contribute to the age-friendly plan.

Gwangjin-gu will continue to develop new services, to provide adequate infrastructure, and enhance our city to be an age friendly environment.
