Government of Singapore – Age Well SG

Singapore’s population is ageing rapidly. By 2030, it is projected that 1 in 4 citizens will be aged 65 and above.

Given that the issues of ageing cut across several domains such as health, social and the built environment, Singapore takes a whole-of-society approach in planning for our ageing population.  This is done through Age Well SG, our multi-agency, national programme launched in 2023, to support our seniors to age well in their homes and community. Age Well SG will see a comprehensive nationwide transformation across the areas of housing, transport, active ageing and care services to anchor ageing in the community.

Age Well SG complements our existing efforts in improving the health of our seniors and lays out further moves that the government is making to better integrate social and health services in local communities, to respond to the care needs of our seniors more proactively and pre-empt social isolation and decline. Age Well SG comprises three pillars and will be progressively implemented.

  1. Encouraging active ageing
  2. Strengthening support for seniors with care needs in the community
  3. Improve the physical living environment

As a Network Affiliate and member of the WHO Global Network for Age-friendly Cities and Communities, Singapore will continue to embrace the WHO’s multi-sectoral approach to make our city more age-friendly, and to also serve as catalysts at the global level.
