Under the main catchphrase “The center of Korea, Happy Eumseong”, Eumseong-Gun is dedicated to supporting an environment to prepare for the aging of society. The Administration Welfare Bureau’s main policy objective is to provide consumer-centered, customized welfare services for residents.

Eumseong-Gun has laid the groundwork for establishing an age-friendly city by enacting an ordinance and founding the Hanbit Welfare Center as a consortium organization. This initiative fully incorporates the opinions and aspirations of older persons, aligning with the eight age-friendly domains for an age-friendly city outlined by the World Health Organization. In our commitment to fostering an inclusive environment for people of all ages, Eumseong-Gun has formulated the ‘Eumseong-Gun Senior-Friendly City Creation Plan’.

Under this circumstance, we set the vision for older citizens as “Happy Senior Life Begins in Eumseong-Gun”. There are three major objectives for Eumseong-Gun’s policies for developing age-friendly social environment. Details are as follows:

The main purpose is establishing the environment where older persons enjoy a healthy living environment.
(1-1) Creating an age-friendly environment for any activities in real life
(1-2) Recovering Eumeong-Gun’s beautiful neighborhood relationship (Community recovery)
(1-3) Providing streets and pedestrian environments that secure safety for all residents

◆ [Objective 2] Stay, Eumseong
The main purpose is designing a vibrant residential environment where everyday life is enjoyable
(2-1) Creating a city where older persons can participate in daily life without any barriers to participation
(2-2) Considering all the needs of older persons
(2-3) Coexisting with the natural ecosystem

◆ [Objective 3] Okay, Eumseong
The main purpose is creating a city of harmony that shares and acts among residents
(3-1) Establishing a city prepared to respond to an increase in aging
(3-2) Suggesting an inclusive city with open intergenerational communication and cooperation
(3-3) Integrating a network for older persons’ social security, health, and welfare

The vision of Eumseong-Gun, key issues, and guidelines were derived from analysis on Eumseong-Gun’s environmental conditions, benchmarking of other cases, research of the age-friendliness of the district, and gathering experts’ opinions through focus group interviews.
